Color is always an added accent and should always be part of your presentation.  Adding color can be just a small drop of a bold sauce or decorated with a brightly colored edible flower.  That touch of color added to the plate can bring your ordinary piece of apple pie to new heights.  Always think of what extra touch you can give your entrée or dessert to give the feeling that you are and expert at culinary arts cooking.

Think outside the box when it comes to culinary arts cooking and making your plate stand out to be remembered.  Not only for the taste but for the beauty and appeal to give that WOW factor.  Putting your garnish in odd numbers such as 3 or 5 or just 1 is much more appealing to the eye then even numbers.  Always take into account the ingredients of your dish and garnish with something that will blend with the flavors or is one of the flavors already in the dish.

Finely chopped tomatoes or parsley will add color and flavor to that grilled chicken breast.  Slice the chicken breast on and angle and fan it out on your plate then garnish with a color splash and compliment of flavor.  Fresh herbs are always complimentary to a meat dish.  Just sprinkle a small amount of crumbled sage on that pork chop and voila¢ instant palate appeal. Try leaning that piece of steak on the mashed potatoes to give the plate some depth.

When it comes to garnishing vegetables just sprinkling with some toasted walnuts or almonds will make the color of the vegetable pop.  Grating or making lemon and lime curls will not only add piazzas to those green beans it will give them a real brightness.  Sprinkle the pile of mashed potatoes with your garden grown chives just to add color.

So the next time you want to present a beautiful and artful plate to your guests, remember you don’t have to be a culinary arts expert just use your imagination and be the star at your next dinner party.
